Can students join for short term memberships during breaks?

Absolutely! We have them enroll in a regular young adult membership, but use a discount group to waive the joiner fee, and then proactively schedule the term.


How do I process a short term, seasonal student membership?

  1. Verify current student ID

  2. Enroll in a Young Adult Membership

  3. Use the following Discount Group to waive the Joiner Fee:

Waives Joiner Fee for students only in town for a break; 1) Verify a current student ID before attaching this Discount Group. 2) Immediately submit a termination request for 1, 2, or 3 months, according to the student's vacation schedule.

  1. Immediately schedule (or submit a ticket for) cancellation* in 1, 2, or 3 months, according to the student’s vacation schedule.


*Member Engagement Directors: Spot check this by verifying the scheduled cancellation has been completed when you approve the Discount Group!

Can they go on hold until May?

It depends. We can’t do a hold all the way from September to May - it’s way too long, people forget it will reactivate, and it throws off our reports. But, we can absolutely accommodate shorter 3-4 month holds for students who want to be active May-August, then December-January.
