YMCA Nationwide Reciprocity FAQ
YMCA of the North Shore | Updated February 2026
What is YMCA Nationwide Reciprocity?
For years, the YMCA of the North Shore has been proud to give our members the opportunity to use Y locations throughout the Commonwealth and the country. We firmly believe that if you are a member of one Y, you are a member of all Ys.
Can YMCA of the North Shore members visit other Ys?
Members at YMCA of the North Shore locations always have full access to our 7 Y’s unless they’ve selected a “local only” membership with limited access. Beyond our North Shore locations, members are more than welcome to visit other Y’s that participate in Nationwide Reciprocity. Please call ahead to check current policies at the Y you plan to visit!
What is included in Nationwide Reciprocity access?
When YMCA of the North Shore members visit another Y outside of our 7 locations, they are offered complimentary guest access to the facility. This typically includes access to the fitness center, pool, and gymnasium. However, please be aware that there may be some limitations on amenities or services that are reserved for paying members due to high demand. For instance, certain group exercise classes, Pickleball, or Kids Club/Child Watch may not be included for Nationwide guests. Please call ahead to check current policies at the Y you plan to visit!
What YMCA of the North Shore benefits are not available to Nationwide guests?
The following benefits are only available to YMCA of the North Shore members due to high demand: outdoor pools, pickleball, kids club babysitting, group exercise classes that require sign-up (if there’s space once they start, guests can join in).
I’d like to visit multiple Ys… which one should I join?
Members must be enrolled in a membership at the YMCA location they use the majority (more than 50%) of the time. If a member begins visiting another Y through the Nationwide Reciprocity program more than 50% of the time, they will be asked to switch their membership to the Y they visit most frequently.
